Breast
Reduction
Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a
variety of medical problems caused by the excessive weight. Such
problems may include back and neck pain, skin irritation,
skeletal deformities, and breathing problems. Bra straps may
leave indentations in their shoulders. Unusually large breasts
can make a woman or teenage girl feel extremely self-conscious.
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is
designed specifically for these particular women. This procedure
consists of removing fat, glandular tissue, and skin from
breasts. These techniques make the breast smaller, lighter, and
firmer. This procedure can also reduce the size of the areola,
the dark skin around the nipple. The ultimate goal of the
surgery is to obtain smaller, lighter, firmer breasts that are
proportional to the woman’s body shape and size.
Breast Lift
Over the years factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and the force
of gravity take their toll on a woman’s breasts. In addition,
the breasts lose their natural elasticity, which in turn causes
them to lose their shape and firmness. Breast lift, also known
as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and
reshape sagging breasts as to obtain a more youthful appearance.
Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the dark skin
around the nipple. If your breasts are small and have lost
volume, the insertion of breast implants along with a mastopexy
can increase both their size and firmness.
Breast Augmentation
If you often wish that your breasts were larger, fuller, or more
shapely, breast augmentation surgery may be the right choice for
you. Augmentation mammoplasty is typically performed to enlarge
small breasts, underdeveloped breasts or breasts that have
decreased in size after a woman has had children. It is
accomplished by surgically inserting an implant behind each
breast. The implant itself can be placed just under the breast
tissue or underneath the pectoral muscles.
Breast Reduction In Men
More formerly known as Gynecomastia (coming from the Greek words
meaning “woman-like-breasts”). This is actually quite common.
Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men. It
may only effect one breast or both. Though certain drugs and
medical problems have been associated with breast development,
there is no known cause for the majority of cases. This
procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts,
and in extreme cases the removal of excess skin. The final
result is a flatter, firmer.
